Start with the daily routine
A compatible small shutter used occasionally may not need the same control setup as several wide doors operated every morning and evening. Consider reach, effort and which users need access. Explain the actual routine to the supplier so the operating method is selected for the shutter and its users rather than chosen only from a list of accessories.
Separate basic operation from connected features
A wall switch, handheld remote, group command and phone app are different ways to control a compatible system. Ask which are included and whether extra controllers, a hub or connectivity are needed. If integration with an existing smart-home system matters, name that system before ordering and request confirmation of the proposed compatibility.
Make the electrical and backup plan explicit
Identify where power is available and who will arrange any required preparation. Ask what happens when normal power is unavailable. Some specifications may offer an override or backup option, while others may not; neither should be assumed. If an opening has an important access or exit role, resolve that requirement with the relevant project professionals before installation.
Plan for handover and future service
Have each regular user shown how to open, stop and close the shutter and how to respond if operation is abnormal. Keep model and control information with the project documents. For a business, agree how access changes when staff leave. For a home, think about visitors and household members who may need a simple control without using a personal phone.
Apply the checklist to your project
